Please don't hand in a sample unless you have been asked to do by a clinician.
Due to new guidelines, your GP is no longer the first port of call for urine infections (UTI). If you are female and aged 16-65 and think you may have a UTI you should now contact your nearest pharmacy where they will assess you and provide antibiotic treatment if required.
The practice has a protocol to follow as dip testing samples in the surgery does not always give all the clinical information required. A sample may need to be sent to the labs at the hospital but before doing so this must be actioned by a clinician to have the relevant bottles, forms and labels if required.
