Winter Virus Update

We are currently seeing a significant increase in cases of seasonal winter viruses, including Influenza A, particularly among children and younger adults.

Common symptoms include fever, sore throat, cough, headache, muscle aches, and fatigue. Most viral illnesses can be safely managed at home with rest, fluids, and simple pain relief. Please seek urgent medical advice if symptoms are severe, worsening, or if you or your child fall into a higher-risk group.

Helpful information and guidance:

To help reduce the spread of infection, we encourage regular handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and avoiding close contact with others when unwell.

Training practice

Our practice is approved to train doctors who wish to specialise in general practice. Our GP registrars will have had between 2-4 years of experience as a qualified hospital doctor working in various specialities before they start training with us.

We are very proud of our GP registrars and five of our current team of general practitioners were previously GP registrars in the practice.

The GP registrars consult patients on their own, under the mentorship of a trainer. Occasionally we ask permission to video a consultation. You will always be asked in advance and are given the option not to take part, and this will not affect your care in any way. No recording will be taken without your consent and the camera will be switched off on request. These videos are used only for educational purposes with the doctor doing the consultation and are destroyed after use.

They work with us for either 6 or 12 months and share all aspects of medical care in liaison with the GP Partners. Some of their consultations may be videoed for training purposes.
